My Sunday started off with this fantastic bit of press in Sydney's Sunday Telegraph. Then I had a fabulous day at the Boutique Markets - the sun was shining and there were lots of lovely people out and about. I had some great stall neighbours, like Peg & Kate and My Girl, which makes the day more like a social outing than work. Today I'm packaging all the orders that have flooded in from the newspaper piece. Busy, busy, happy busy.

YDM this Sunday

Brisbane's Young Designer's Market goes monthly from this Sunday. Pop down to Little Stanley Street, South Bank between 10am and 4pm to check out some fabulous Brisbane designers. I'll be there with the very talented Michelle Freer from Lily&Cino so come and say hi! I'll be hunting down the gorgeous pastel coloured earrings I spotted in Hot Toffee's etsy store.

Inside Out Magazine

The new Inside Out magazine came out today and yay! my Recessionista Tote Bags are in it! Check out the Inside Out blog and website. This issue also has a fantastic giveaway where one reader will win a collection of 100 great designer items under $100.

New at Jaime Beattie

I'm very excited to show you my new range of cotton shopper totes which are instore now!

As the Global Financial Crisis appears to be settling in for the long haul I decided that having a positive attitude is the best way to combat the economic blues. Hence, a range of hand screenprinted totes encouraging us to 'stimulate the economy' and shop, shop shop! If the Prime Minister says we should get out there and buy stuff, who am I to argue?

The totes are 100% cotton and available in 4 designs, 2 styles and a range of colours. And the best part is that they are only A$15 so there's plenty of money left over to fill them up with our economy-assisting purchases.

Young Designer's Market - Brisbane

The Young Designer's Market is on Sunday 7 December at Brisbane's Southbank. Head to the grassy area between Southbank and Little Stanley Street between 10 am and 4pm to check out some great Brisbane designers and pick up some unique Christmas presents. And... say Hi! to me!

Cream Puff Headbands @ Jaime Beattie

Our new Cream Puff headbands have just been added to the Jaime Beattie website. These headbands have a black cotton band and a lovely soft felt 'cream puff'. They kind of remind me of a chrysanthemum flowers. There are currently 7 colours available and we will add more in the future. If you would love in a particular colour please just let me know.

Its the beginning of spring and finally time to release my Spring/Summer 08/09 collection, Summers at the Sunset Hotel.

Sophia Purses

Here are some Sophia purses that are part of a custom order for a lovely lady in Hong Kong. Sophia purses have a soft gathered front with a solid-colour back panel and contrasting lining. You can see more on the Jaime Beattie website here or contact me to find out more about bespoke (custom) orders.

Beads and Brooches

I've added some new products to the Jaime Beattie website. There are now 9 colours of the wooden bead necklaces, all strung on satin ribbon. And our brand new product, hand-stitched felt brooches featuring a vintage button. Both the necklaces and brooches can be custom made in your choice of colours and the necklaces can be made to any length. Click here to see all the new products.

Vintage Marimekko Bag

My good friend Shelley asked me to make her a Brigitte bag from a piece of vintage Marimekko fabric that she had stashed away. Here are some images of the transformation.

 
Bags are a great way to use up pieces of precious fabric remnants.There are more than 20 pieces of fabric, lining and interfacing that go into making a bag like this. Although this bag used less than half of the piece of vintage fabric shown in the first picture. The bag was finished off with a large vintage glass button from my collection.  There are some ready made Brigitte bags available on the Jaime Beattie website.
